Privacy Policy
Who we are: Hushwater is made by Maximilian Olsen ("we", "us"). Contact: contact@hushwatergame.com.
The short version
- You can play Hushwater without an account.
- Your game progress is saved on your device.
- If you say yes when asked, we collect anonymous play data and crash reports to improve the game, and our ad partner may show ads based on your interests. You can change both answers any time in Settings.
- Ads are always optional: you only see one when you choose to watch it for a reward.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
- We don't sell your personal information.
What we collect and why
| Data | When | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game progress (items, levels, story choices, settings) | Always, stored on your device | So you can keep playing | Nobody but you |
| Backup code | Only if you tap "Back up progress" | Lets you move your progress to another device | Stays with you |
| Gameplay events (for example "finished chapter 2", level reached, session length, purchases started), device model and OS version, and a random app-instance ID | Only if you choose "Allow" / turn on Share anonymous play data | Understand how the game is played, fix problems, balance difficulty | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Crash and error reports (what went wrong, device model, OS version) | Only if you allowed anonymous play data | Find and fix crashes | Google Firebase Crashlytics |
| Device advertising ID and basic device information | Only when an optional rewarded ad is loaded or shown | Show the ad and give you the reward. Ads are interest-based only if you allowed personalized ads (and, in the EU/UK, gave consent in Google's consent form). | Google AdMob |
| Purchase receipts | When you buy something | Deliver your purchase, prevent fraud | Apple App Store / Google Play |
| Your IP address | When the game downloads its settings file or an ad | Needed to deliver the file or ad; not used to identify you | GitHub (hosts our website and settings file), Google AdMob |
| Emails you send us | When you contact support | Answer you | Our email provider |
Reminders such as "your energy is full" are scheduled on your device. They don't send any data to us, and you can turn them off in Settings or in your phone's settings.
Your choices
- Settings → Share anonymous play data and Personalized ads turn these on or off at any time. Turning off play data stops Analytics and crash reports immediately.
- In the European Economic Area and the UK, Google's consent form asks for your choices about ads, and you can change them later.
- On iPhone, the system "Allow tracking?" prompt also controls interest-based ads.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
- Uninstalling the game deletes everything stored on your device. To ask us or our partners to delete data, email contact@hushwatergame.com.
Children
Hushwater isn't directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK), and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to its processing. Contact contact@hushwatergame.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
